Writing Residency

dedicated to VR and immersive narration

Fisheye and the Institut français are renewing the VR Arles Writing Residency for the 4th year. Subject to favorable developments of the current sanitary situation, it will be held from August 21 to 28, 2021, at the Couvent Saint Césaire in Arles.

This year, thanks to the support of Région PACA, a day will be open to professionals and cultural actors of the territory, Wednesday 25th of August, 2021.

The call for applications is open until MAY 11, 2021.

The Les Ailleurs Festival (formerly VR Arles Festival) and the Institut français have joined forces for the 4th consecutive year to offer a writing residency dedicated to immersive narratives. In 2021, a partnership with the Région Sud will allow the development of the residence in conjunction with local actors (cultural establishments, professional training).

This residency aims to support authors and artists in the development of an innovative writing project for virtual reality. It also aims to deepen the knowledge of the laureates on the creative and narrative potential of immersive technologies. Finally, it aims to provide the keys to writing a virtual reality project and to facilitate the convergence of different artistic forms.

For a week, participants will benefit from a morning masterclass with professionals in immersive realities, visual arts, sound, performing arts and image. The afternoons will allow for individual support and time for discussion.

How to participate ?

The call for projects, open to French and French-speaking foreign candidates, concerns a VR writing project. Applications should be sent to the email address residence@lesailleurs.art and must contain:
