Biography

After studying visual arts and art history, Ferdinand Dervieux entered the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in 2008. He joins the Printed Image department and learns drawing, artist’s book making as well as engraving and silkscreen printing. Passionate about new technologies and always looking for renewal in his productions, he co-founded Parallèles Éditions with Maïa d’Aboville in 2013. They then published a series of hybrid projects mixing works on paper and digital. Some of their projects such as Lis tes Classiques and Fibonacci gave rise to exhibitions and partnerships with the SNCF and the city of Lorient.

At the same time he decided to extend his studies by joining a research laboratory in interaction design as a post-master at ENSAD. He then became more involved in the digital world and started giving training courses in schools and universities.

In 2015, while Oculus was organizing an international Virtual Reality competition, he decided to try his hand at this new experimental medium and produced three projects. DRIFT (with Aby Batti), Along the trail (with Aby Batti and Louis Eveillard) and Panopticon (with Louis Eveillard and Julia Spiers) were all rewarded and received support from companies such as Facebook and Google, leading them to co-found the companies Panoptic Lab and SharpSense.

Ferdinand is now working full-time on the creation of virtual reality experiments and games, multiplying collaborations to create unique, hybrid and experimental works such as Recall VR.
